Just download the free AdBlock or AdBlockPlus browser extension from wherever the addon/extension menu is in Chrome. I use Edge so not exactly sure where. I can't remember the last time I saw an ad on YT.

I only get the problems with ads on YouTube if I use the YouTube app on my phone. I always use a browser on both PC and phone with ad blockers and that seems to get round the problem for me. Interesting. I also use PC or laptop through Chrome browser; how do you apply the ad blockers without paying for the pro version of YouTube? FFJ On PC I use Chrome browser with a combination of Adblock Plus together with Malwarebytes Browser Guard extensions and the two work together very well. On my phone, which is a Samsung, I use the Samsung browser with Adblock Plus for Samsung Internet. As that version of the extension is specifically for the Samsung Internet app, it may only applicable to Samsung phones although Google Play does list the Samsung Internet browser for android generally, so it would be easy to check on the link below. Samsung Internet Browser
Adblock Plus also provides its own dedicated android internet browser which I sometimes use and that is linked below. Adblock Browser: Block ads, browse faster
I hope at least something there is helpful. Jeff

Reviving this thread because Guitar Magazine has published its last print copy, going online completely now. I am also a Fretboard Journal subscriber; it's a worthy publication. There is now the TNAG Connoisseur (https://thenorthamericanguitar.com/pages/connoisseur) which is an app-based publication. I haven't spent any money on it, just flicked through the first issue which was free. Any other suggestions?

Ah yes I've heard about this magazine, but its American. Be expensive to ship to the UK! Beat me to it. Acoustic Guitar was a real game changer when it was launched in 1990. Not quite as good as it was but worthy of our support. The magazine market is very tough and as Joni wrote, “you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone”.

Supporting the Fretboard Journal makes me feel good. Its business model is more grassroots than the conglomerate-owned mags that are on the ropes. It feels like belonging to a community in a lot of ways, although I know that this very forum began as a magazine-adjacent community. I never felt good buying the UK mag though, even though I was an advertiser. I just love what Jason Verlinde is doing and I hope that he can keep it going and make a decent living. I don't get the feeling that he's doing it for the money!

I still subscribe to Acoustic Guitar now digitally but I regard my back copies a useful resource

I have my own YouTube Channel (Silly Moustache) I make videos of songs and do guitar related "chatty" videos, and I make videos to help and advise. What really "p***es" me off is that bloody Tony Polecastro coming up before I can watch MY videos!
I use Adblocker plus (for free) and ESET antivirus on Firefox, so don't tend to get unwanted ads - apart from the ads that last a minute and take two minutes to load before you can escape and then watch te video you want.
Interestingly they don't seem to kick n until the USA wakes up about midday. I get ads on Spotify, but that's about all. I don't know about you folks but when I try to watch a TV channel that interrupts the ads with bits of actual programmes it tends to antagonise me about the products shouting at me.

Personally, I really miss frets magazine. Stopped buying AG magazine years ago when the ads outweighed the actual content. Also i don't need to learn how to play like some obscure american I've never heard of. Its a shame as it was once a great magazine.
