Looking for something for school (I have a music teaching role starting September) and was looking at the following 3 from Peach guitars : Yamaha LJ 16 or LL16; Eastman AC222ce OV (cutaway om style guitar) or Faith sunburst Mars with 45mm nut. All around a similar price, though the faith is the most expensive. Been most impressed with yamahas I've tried, but what would you choose?

All 3 are likely to be very nice guitars. I've owned a number of Faiths and Yamahas over the years and one OM Eastman. All bloody good guitars and punch well above their price. I just acquired a Yamaha LL16 and have to give that a massive thumbs up and the LJ16 looks awesome too. So it's a vote for the Yammie but any of your choices should work out fine. Good luck.

For me it would be another vote for Yamaha. I have an old (I bought it when I started work in the 70) FG 340. Although my instrument is now Guild, I still play it frequently. They consistently punch above their weight in terms of performance from price.

Great news Robbie... peri guitar or music curriculum also?
Sorry, I'm not much use on advice for those three, but, from memory, Faith are good value and Eastman very popular for those wanting a cheap decent guitar.

It's a 4 month head of department role. At least will give me a bit of extra cash to fund this purchase. Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

Not played many Eastman but have heard good things about them... but I really like the L series Yamahas and would happily play a 16 series

For me it would be a toss up between an Eastman and a Yamaha.
I have owned an Eastman 9 series jazzer and also an Eastman AR403CED which is a copy of the Gibson ES-175. Both amazing guitars for the money. However, have never played an Eastman acoustic. It seems that Eastman have an amazing stock of woods and the factory is still making guitars (and cellos/violins) predominately by hand.
Yamahas are consistently good across the board and, like Eastman, value for money is exceptional.

Hi My pal, Chris has the Faith Mars with the 45 m/m nut width, and it is really very nice. I see they are around £1k now.
Depends on your fretboard requirements. I doubt that you need a dread or jumbo, so if you need the wider fretboard like I do, I'd suggest that you look at the Eastman E10/20-00 12 fret with a 1 & 13/16" nutwidth.
Dunno about Yamahas so can't speak of them.

Now sorted thanks to a very generous forum member who has leant me an incredible guitar to see me through my short term contract. The guitar is a beauty and I am having a ball playing all my old pieces and hearing them on a new light. To say the guitar speaks to me is an understatement! Hope to record with it soon.
