I enjoy watching a show on BBC1 called The Repair Shop, where a team of restorers with specialist skills repair and restore people's worn but treasured objects. Tonight's episode featured a 1930s National Resonator guitar that hadn't been played in 40 years. And afterwards it played like new. Very nice. I wonder if its on YouTube...

Yes it was an interesting watch, I'm glad he didn't over-restore it, as they tend to do with a lot of stuff on the programme.

I think this is the guy who repaired it: guitardoctor.co.uk. Julyan Wallis, based in Penzance. He's been on a few times.

He's always friendly and does a great job.

Ah! thanks for the direction, found it on I-player.
That's a valuable old National Duolian! I'm surprised it didn't need a neck reset or replacement "biscuit" of even cone ...mybe it did but they just showed it being polished refretted and restrung.
anyway, I hope the guy gets a lot of pleasure from it. I wonder how people get on the programme - I'd love the leather lady to fix up an old Lifton case for me.

He's a real character and has some great jokes too It's interesting watching him having to rein himself in somewhat when he's on the telly!
