Thanks guys, I managed to get the first round of pore filler on last night, so will hopefully be able to get the first coats of finish on over the weekend.

Well I strung her up for the first time last night, with a rough bridge and nut, and well I think it sounds good, but I have never played a mandolin before so who know's I just need to refine the bridge and then pictures will follow.

Good news, Nick! Looking forward to the pics. Of course, if there are any mandolin playing forum members near you in Norfolk, they could play test it for you, and then do a mini-review on here

My main instrument is: probably needing new strings

that's a beauty, Nick.
I love the rosette - very understated but complimentary to the overall design.
Any chance of some soundclips?

Looks lovely Nick - the various woods blend so well visually overall, and I especially like the bridge, rosette, fingerboard and headstock similarities in shade. Looking forward to hearing it too!

Thank you very much for your kind comments, I will see what I can do about a sound clip, biggest problem with that though is I have never played a mandolin before, but I will see what I can learn. Any suggestions for something nice and simple...

Well I was asked for a sound demo, so here goes. Its fairly basic as I really haven't had time to work on anything else, but here goes. Mandolin Demo
Any comments are welcome.

That's got a lovely mellow, 'earthy' sound, Nick.
