Many of you will know, or know of, Phil Hare.
He sadly died from a massive heart attack last night after dealing (effectively, it seemed) with a prostate cancer diagnosis since last year.
Never averse to a bit of devil tuning, he leaves a wealth of good music.

Amanda and I were so sad to hear of Phil’s passing He was so thoughtful and kind and we always enjoyed his visits to our home/workshop, not only to hear him play but also listen to his anecdotes. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him and enjoyed his virtuoso playing. RIP Phil, we'll miss you.

I was really saddened to read Steph's post on Phil's F/B page earlier. Smashing bloke and great musician. A great loss. RIP.

What a lovely guy he was and I always tried to go and see him at the Cross Keys. A great performer. Such a shame 😔
RIP Phil.......

I’ve known Phil since we both worked for the same government department, over 40 years I guess. This is an unbelievable shock. Condolences to his family, RIP.

Such a shame. I came across Phil when I was looking for arrangements in CGCGCD (I didn't have many in my repertoire at the time) and fell in love with his version of Si Bheag Si Mhor. He kindly sent me the Tab. This was at a time when I first got my baritone Brook (the one with yew back and sides). Being just the Tab I had to adapt it a little bit, so in the end my arrangement was a little different rhythmically from Phil's but it was still essentially his arrangement. When I recorded my version and Phil got to hear it he was overwhelmingly generous in his comments and told me I should be out gigging. I will never forget that, it gave me such confidence. I saw Phil at a folk club gig a few years later, and he was the most naturally gifted performer. It is such a shame and a shock as he seemed to be winning his battle with cancer Robbie

I only knew him from the things he used to post on this forum. He did a series of YT vids some time ago that he posted here and I enjoyed them very much.
I am, nonetheless, saddened to hear of his sudden death. RIP Phil.
Correction: he didn't post them here - I've just checked his account. Must've been Facebook.
