Hello My Alhambra 6-string jumbo has a two-part saddle for compensation and I want to lower the action a tad. What I need is a 14" top radius TUSQ blank that I can cut into two and height-adjust myself. However, most ' suppliers ' I find online don't even know the radius of their saddles- and some don't think it's even important So- any clues as to a genuine supplier, please ?

I'm guessing that you want to keep the existing ones as a fall back option and/or possible future re-use otherwise you'd just sand the bases of them.
You might have to buy a saddle blank and scribe the shapes onto it from the current saddles. A bit more work but would ensure the correct radius....
Keith
..sorry, that didn't answer your question really did it? But I don't know the answer to that!

I doubt that you'll find any 14" radius saddle blanks, any that are radiused will probably be 16" as that is the most common shape. It should be a simple job as Keith says to just use your existing saddle as a template to shape the top of your saddle, remember of course that the 1st and 6th string ends will be slightly different heights.

Stewmac has 14" radius TUSQ blanks- but it appears that you have to fork out dozens of quids in order to be a ' member ' Sod that. Then perhaps there's no international postage. Then there's bloody Brexit should there be European suppliers. Life as a UK-imprisoned saddle-sander ain't easy.

Keith ..sorry, that didn't answer your question really did it? But I don't know the answer to that! I can easily reduce the existing saddle(s) - but I didn't want to proceed without a back-up. Belt and braces, innit. Also, I believe that the existing saddles are bone- and I'm very impressed by the clarity of tone of my new, TUSQ-furnished, Gibson G-200. Pics I can do- but it will be a week or so before I record with it. Thanks for asking.

You may have already checked, but I have found it often easier to buy Tusq products direct from the manufacturer Graphtech- pretty quick, reasonable postage costs even to Australia

Would Avalon/Lowden be a possibility for split saddles? Incidentally,I bought an Alhambra jumbo a few weeks ago. Really nice guitars.

Graphtech don’t seem to quote the radius on their website so you may be better doing as colins suggested

Weird.

If you want an unshaped Tusq saddle, try Glued to Music via eBay. You won't find cheaper. Cheers Gary

Thanks, vinny- but the radius isn't stated. Sad to see that were excluded from the European community too. I'll find some 14" TUSQ somewhere- no hurry- I'm deep into my new Gibson G-200
