I'll never understand the reverence for these things. I had one a few years ago, it got binned, bloody useless thing. Much prefer the spring type one I have. I'm genuinely interested to know how it was 'bloody useless'! And I hope you've got a tuner permanently attached for that spring capo! I'm surprised by the reaction to these shubbs, as I thought there was a lot of love for them on here. However, I perfectly understand the 'if it ain't broke' school of thought. At the moment I'm having a tough time with my G7th capos, and have thought about going back to shubb as, as many have said before, they just work (though obviously not in Larry's case). I'm a sucker for a bit of bling me! Robbie

I'm a sucker for a bit of bling me! Robbie I just couldn't get it to stay on, kept coming loose and couldn't get the screw to turn to tighten it. One day it came loose while playing so I chucked it. Then I won an excellent Tanglewood Speedbar in an online competition and it was brilliant, just worked first time. And why would I need to retune constantly? I didnt, it just worked fine.

I'm a sucker for a bit of bling me! Robbie At the moment I rotate between my G7 and Shubb capos (with an occasional Elliott moment). I quite like Shubbs, and I also have their version for classical nylon guitar for when that might occasionally be needed. In my decades as a guitar player, I never used a Shubb capo until the last year or so, influenced by this forum. So contrary to common opinion, this forum does do some good. Peter

Late to the party here, but one thing that strikes me is that all the prettiness is on the back of the capo. From the front it'll still look just like a Shubb has always looked, or have I missed something? Thalia capos have a decorative band across the top, which seems to make sense from a prettiness perspective, though I don't like their capos at all, but these Shubbs don't seem to have anything. I do own a Shubb, though I rarely use it. The one I use most is one of the cheap PlanetWaves lightweight jobbies. It's small, does the job, is quick to put on and adjust and doesn't put the guitar out of tune too much if it's put on properly. It doesn't sit on the headstock of the guitar too well, so I keep it in my trouser pocket when it's not in use. But I hardly ever use a capo anyway, to be honest. I really don't think a capo needs to be pretty. I'm afraid my personal perceptions of sexiness don't include capos at all. I'm glad. I play and sing standing up and the effects of guitar accessory erotica could prove embarrassing.

If there was a 'Nerd' site competition, would we win it?

If there was a 'Nerd' site competition, would we win it? No, we’d definitely lose to that site where they just talk about what they all have for lunch on Fridays… oh, wait…

I am genuinely interested in these limited edition ones, that's the thing. Despite all the p**s taking on here, I actually quite like one or two of them, and as I am in the market for a new one, I thought these would be right up my street. If I do buy one I will put my performance 3 and Newport up for sale here. scorpiodog your point about the decoration being on the back is the exact reason I like them. I like the fact that I can see the pretty side, bugger the audience! I've always wondered why most guitar decoration is on the front where I can't see it! I see now that my orignal title has rather set me up for this p**s take- I wasn't of course trying to say that a capo can be sexy, and I did not mean to imply that a capo could be used for erotic purposes. Of course, if anyone here wishes to use one for that purpose, that's up to them, and good luck! Robbie

I like both the purple and the brass one. I was given this colourful Shubb, I like it too but don't use it a lot as I prefer the Planet Waves screw-on type:

See that screw at the bottom? Has a rubber bit on the other side. It kept coming loose and would ping off mid playing. Stupid thing lol
