LOts of good advice folks, thanks. I'm in no particular hurry to buy another instrument, but if the right one came along, well... I might now have a bit more idea what the right one is. I'll try a variety as and when the opportunity arises. For the money the Orchestra sized Statesboro' sounds pretty good, it sounds even better when Guitar Guru Ged gives it a thrash. It isn't hard to play, it was palyable straight out of the box. Compared to the accordion world with it's limited number of good manufacturers and outlets, the world seems awash with "good" guitars. Chinese built accordions are fairly feeble compared to the German and Italian manufacturers.( I'm being generous some are awful.) Whereas Chinese and far-eastern guitars and other stringed instruments seem to be pretty good.
Pre-loved is certainly an option, it's hunting the right thing down at the right time. I suppose a good chunk of looking for new instrument is the chase. I'll keep my eye's open and keep you all posted
As for just learning tunes, Guitar Guru Ged keeps me on the straight narrow, well mostly. Technique is carefully watched, timid, wimpy playing isn't really allowed...pick direction , intonation, dexterity, chord formation, timing all the things that music teachers are supposed to pick up on are monitored and corrected ( nicely ) In hind sight I should had guitar lessons years ago, but for all sorts of reasons I didn't. Thanks again
