; Plus two guitars of the same model ain't gonna sound exactly the same. Ah! How true! This is precisely the reason not to buy low priced guitars from the internet. I try always to play the guitar I buy. I have had some lucky buys from the internet, but I know some people who've bought absolute dogs, and in the days of Exchange and Mart, I bought a guitar that I hated because I wanted a particular model without playing it first. I guess it's to do with batch manufacture. That works wonderfully for keeping costs down, but when working with a natural raw material like wood, there are bound to be variations that not even the best quality control process can deal with. And the scrappage rate must be material to the price, so some bad examples of all industrially produced low price guitars must get through to the market (the Martins, Taylors and Gibsons of this world scrap or remake the dogs because they can afford to do so). But whichever model maninashed chooses, he really ought to play the actual guitar he buys before he buys it.

I think when you're buying cheaper guitars this is even more important as there is a helluva lot of variation. A good example is my daughter's wee Tanglewood parlour guitar which sounds a lot better than others of the same model that I've played in shops. Having said that, you get some amazing tempting deals on the t'internet and if you end up with a turkey I suppose you can always punt it on eBay. But I'm strictly a try-before-I-buy kinda guy :-)

I'll definitely be playing before I buy, I like the style of those guitars but how they play and sound is most important. It might be a problem getting to play both of them to compare them though.

Have you got a digital recorder, Maninashed? I think someone's already suggested that in this thread, but if you record them both with the mic placement identical in each case, that might help you decide. Of course, the room will be different, but perfection is hard to achieve.

I live on the Isle of Arran and prefer to deal with the shop near to where I lived down in England, Eagle Music, when I can. I ordered the Faith Jupiter. When it arrived I was perturbed by the narrow fretboard (slack research) and slightly disappointed by the wiry tone. I wouldn't have bought it in the shop. I soon got used to the neck, and the tone has developed into something big. I made a good choice, in the wrong way. So there you go.
