Seriously Chris, if you can't find a Lowden multiscale to try in Scotland it would be well worth your while to take even a long trip to try one - www.coda-music.com/acoustic-guitars-lowden-c-26_56.htmlSmall bass-treble differential scales are pretty transparent in use, but Lowden use a pretty large differential and those frets are a lot more slanted than on many multiscale jobs and hence may require a fair bit of acclimatisation. You would be taking a large gamble ordering one sight unseen/unplayed. Keith

Been thinking that. Wouldnt have bought without trying multiscale.
So currently just going to pick up my old guitar and strum that for a few months and wait for something to pop up.

..and be sure to try Mark's rather more gently offset multiscale guitars too. Much more finger-friendly! Keith

Just getting over the Giddy Dream guitar phase now. Always wanted a proper lowden and a Fan Fret but now I'm like. Ohh Dave Whites are Unique, ohh Brook is a humble guitar and generally any luthier.
now a bit more sensible. So right now the plan is to Try marks at some point and wait till Feb when the new guitars go into Guitar Guitar.

Just to add to Keith's link there also seem to be a couple of FFs "lying around" here if you can get to London. Definitely worth playing a few before you decide. www.ivormairants.co.uk/guitar-and-bass/acoustic-guitars.html/filter/brands/lowden You said you were looking at the f25/f23. Dave might be able to comment in more detail but I wonder whether a spruce top might work better than the cedar with a FF. Another alternative top if you are going to order from Lowden I can vouch for the fact that the sequoia redwood top is amazing tonally and looks wise on a standard fret. Dont have a fan fret though. Greg

Greg I've tried that Cedar Lowden FF, it sounds majestic. Not tried the spruce version so I can't say if it's better or worse but the cedar one sounded lovely. I wasn't massively enamoured with the difference in the multi-scale but this thread has got me thinking how great it sounded.

Well spotted. There was another by this maker I mentioned in an earlier thread. Worth a punt at that price!

alig; Yes, but I dare say it will make a monkey. I'd go four, I think, if I were looking for a character acoustic. Nah, three-and-a-half as the seller is parting it from its case. Mean mother !

I'm the first bidder...fairly local to me so I could do a pick up. I like the idea of Longleat lion loved cedar...tasty! We'll see...!

' Pick-up' is always advantageous. Good luck, Andrew, looks like a beauty.

See if Keith will delete all references, under the circumstances ?
Scotch is in no hurry, apparently.

Scotch
GuitarGuitar seem to take their Lowden's seriously. Maybe give them a call to find if they plan to get a FF at sometime?
