Hi Guys
Happy new year everyone.
Do you know what strings your guitar is set up with? from memory (it was a while ago!) i seem to recall them shipping with Savarez 520R strings.
If they still are i don't think you have anything to worry about.
When i had my shop, everything that shipped with Saverez seemed to have this issue at some point a few days after the customer took their instruments home.
I must admit that it was a real head scratcher at the time, but turned out to be a symptom of the transportation process.
temperature changes during shipping (and its stay in the store until its bought) could mean that moisture effected the nylon element inside the string that would take a few days to sort out once the temperature the guitar was in was stabilized (ie your home)
It wouldn't surprise me if that was one reason most manufacturers now seem to ship with coated strings.
if you can, reduce the string tension and take a look on the underside of the string winding to see if the surface is tarnished at all (even a tiny bit) if it is, i think that's the source of your problem.
I know its annoying, but don't let that put you off playing the guitar as that's one of the best ways to sort the problem out as once the strings are played in it almost always stops.
If its really bad a simple restring will sort it, and the new strings added will not suffer the same problem.
Don't let that put you off Savarez bu the way, I absolutely love their strings, they sound lovely.
Great playing by the way, i enjoyed listening to the ones you posted.
Kindest
Paul

Thanks Paul, but I'll be taking it back when they re-open on Fri - there's an ever so slight hairline crack/splinter across the grain on the top (can only see it when held at certain angle to the light).
When I bought it, there was a small (but noticeable) mark on the back which didn't concern me (and the shop knew about), I suspect the crack was either already there and I didn't notice it, or possibly has developed from playing - but the buzzing and now this "crack" have put me off this guitar to be honest. I'll see what they say.

Hi Mate
If there is a crack in the top then that's a different matter all together.
I'd recommend changing it for a new one.
You should have no issue in exchanging this guitar for a new one as Walden's warranty's are brilliant. The store you bought this from should offer that option to you as part of there customer service standards.
Let us know how you get on
Kindest
Paul

New one on the way :-)
What a pleasant, helpful guy, he said it looks like a fault in the finish, not a split in the wood , but offered a replacement anyway. So it's a thumbs up from me to Gill at Kenny's Music (Dunfermline).

So it's a thumbs up from me to Gill at Kenny's Music (Dunfermline). I spoke to a guy called Magnus at Kenny's in Dunfermline a couple of weeks ago as they were showing an all solid Walden OM . Unfortunately it was out of stock when I called as was most other things on their website so I went to Guitar Guitar instead but the guy at Kenny's was very helpful and we ended up having a good chat about guitars . Seems like a friendly place worth a visit me thinks .

They've got some nice looking Freshman guitars there, not sure which models, will have a closer look when I go back.

Got the new one today.
Got a bit of a discount on the first due the "dink" in the rear. So getting this one I offered to pay the difference: "No thanks, that was the deal we made" was the reply :-)
This shop is definitely in my good books!

Nah - the strings are nylon! Strictly a tool to learn to read music.
However, I've planted the seed into the wife's mind that I actually NEED a Gibson, not only that, I've told her I need a J200 and that they cost..... a fortnight for for a family of four in the sun!

They're carried in the bloodstream up to the musical centres of the brain and, before you know it, you're addicted. Ah - but that only happens when the guitar sits perpendicularly to to the horizontal on the left thigh at an angle of 45 degrees to the horizontal, with knuckles parallel to the strings, wrist bent at 67 degrees, and nails measuring precisely 3.1746983562417849264564 mm. Myself, I sit with the guitar lazily angled at almost horizontal resting on the right thigh: I know - it's just so wrong!
