Here's on old clip from the master of (among other things) simple but touching love songs -
And he's still going strong with his usual mix of love songs, amusing songs amd political songs. A legend I reckon. Keith

Great stuff, that. Have seen him many times over the last 30 years, and he's still as brilliant as ever, albeit with a slightly wavering voice now! Still fabulous though.

You are fortunate to have seen him many times Eric - I can only claim just the once!
Must have been 1969 or 1970 I think, when he was touring with a pianist and a bass player to promote the LP I'd recently bought - "The things I notice now". Loved the songs, as well as ones from previous LPs I had (Outward Bound, and Morning Again). It was a real thrill and quite a moving experience to see him perform live. It was in the Central Hall at York Uni and remains one of my top ten concerts I've been to even now. Maybe it is mostly nostalgia, but I still enjoy singing many those early songs from around this time, and some of those from the next three albums too. Must make an effort to learn the words properly though!

You are fortunate to have seen him many times Eric - I can only claim just the once! Yes. I was really fortunate that whenever he came over, he always seemed to be doing gigs in the Southampton / Winchester area - and that carried on from about the early seventies right up to the nineties. Even managed to get a couple of my vinyl's signed! Nerdy huh!! But I really did enjoy doing numerous of his songs at my college folk club, and they were always great for people to join in with. I only got all his albums out about three weeks ago, to re-learn several that I'd completely forgotten, hopefully to get to play at the local folk club sign around - but we'll see about that!!! Eric

(terminally bewildered smiley) Keith That's a good collection, Keith. Used to do a couple of those, but the favourites were : Peace will come What a friend you are Ramblin Boy Can't help but wonder where I'm bound Bound for the mountains and the sea Fare thee well Cisco Bottle of wine My lady's a wild flying dove Jimmy Newman and of course, the original version of Last Thing on my Mind. Now it's time to try to remember all the words of that lot. There's a few that I can recall, but some of them have completely left the memory. Gonna be a real challenge, that. Eric
