I want to record my acoustic sessions but the only thing I have is a line 6 thing that has no buttons in it other than power but instead auto starts when it detects input. This will only work with an electric setup and I want to get the natural tone of my guitar. Can anyone recommend a cheapish machine? I have my eye on a tascam thing but have no experience with this stuff.
help please? Lol

I was in the same situation myself a few months ago and asked on the forum. Most people seem to use a Zoom digital recorder - but there are a lot of other makes out there. I ended up with an Olympus LS-14 mainly because it feels so sturdily built and is extremely simple to use. I imagine there will be lots of other favourites out there but I'm very happy with mine.

I use a Zoom H4n and have found it very good value. I'd get another if it broke but after 3 years it shows no sign of that.

A Zoom H4n has ended up as my choice too and it was good value for money. This was after a couple of other recorders turned out to be less than what I wanted.
Finding one that is simple to use and where the logic of the controls fits in with your own way of thinking is not always easy. Not a bad idea to check out on line manuals for an idea of how complex they might be.
I've had a recorder where I was still needing the manual for basic operations after several months - possibly more due to user dumbness than anything else, but that same dumbness doesn't seem to kick in with the H4n.
