Does anyone know of any Guitar clubs near Godstone/ Caterham in Surrey? Looking to get a bit more involved and improve my ability.
Thank you in advance

Well it seems that either there is none. or none of the members use this forum!
So would anyone in the area (or surrounding area) like to set one up? I would definitely be interested in an attempt to get one up and running. Anyone else interested?

Sorry, lefthook. You're just going to have to keep looking - or maybe start one year self, like

A group of like minded people,(guitarists in this case) get together to form a club, meet at regular intervals and play, teach, chat, drink and help to improve guitar playing.
Each member joins and pays a small subscription to keep the club going, purchase equipment like amps and such like, and pay for room rental etc. Hope this helps.

My best guess would be to join a local good "old fashioned " local folk club where you'll probably meet a few like minded people ...

Excuse my ignorance but what is a Guitar Club? I started going to our local guitar club nearly ten years ago. It has been a life-changing thing for me. I got to know a load of fellow musicians, many of whom are now close friends. It also got me into singing, attending sessions, forming a band (2 of the guys in the band I first met at the guitar club), writing songs, playing gigs and recording a CD. Can't recommend it highly enough. BTW - our club has no membership fee, but membership entitles you to discount at one of the best music shops in Edinburgh :-)

Facebook page is up and running, 'Godstone Guitar Club' hoping I will get a few enquiries. I have 2 members my nephew and my brother (he had a group called Oasis!). The club is private and you have to apply for membership. Let's hope it starts to build members.

Hi, I read this post and thought it was a good idea. I've been a bedroom guitarist for too many years so decided to put an ad in gumtree to see if anyone else was interested in joining a guitar club, I've got about 12 replies so far. I've managed to hire a room in my local community centre. This is the first time I've done anything like this, there's no rules it's just bring your guitar and have some fun. I'll let you know how it goes. Ian

Hello and welcome lifesalaugh ! Good to see you dived in and organised your own club, Ian - all the best with it, and yes, we'd love to hear how it goes. Feel free to say a proper Hi to everyone in the Introductions section! Keith
