I'd say that's a bit of a triumph, ashley. Looks good, sounds good - I bet it even smells good!

Hi Ashley just had a chance to catch up on this one and it's looking incredible. You must feel very pleased. I read the part about your finishing troubles with appreciative understanding. My first guitar I tried to spray finish with a waterbased product and it all went wrong and the state I got myself into was really quite embarrassing on reflection. Your nitro is looking superb. How many coats did you manage to finish on?

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone šš» I'm afraid I have no recording equipment other than my phone, I'll maybe look into a cheap mic when I get back from work in a few weeks time. The nitro finish was 2 coats of sanding sealer and 8 coats of nitro. After sanding through the sides I resprayed the sides with another 6 coats I think. Next time I will go for 2 coats of sanding sealer and 8 nitro again but add more thinners as Francis suggested for the final coats to minimise orange peel. I really enjoyed the finishing process despite the problems.

Thanks Gavdav! Where abouts are you based? I'm in St Helens (Merseyside). I'm away for 6 or 7 weeks (the joys of life at sea) but you would be more than welcome to have a go once I'm back and I've finished setting it up. I reckon it will be a few more before I'll try and sell one lol, got 2 on the go for family members and then I'll see if I'm happy with them. I do have a couple of nice guitars planned after that though, an IRW/ torrefied spruce dreadnought and a quilted sapele/Sitka om. I've built one and I'm already thinking about 6 guitars ahead š
