Hi Ashley just had a chance to catch up on this one and it's looking incredible. You must feel very pleased. I read the part about your finishing troubles with appreciative understanding. My first guitar I tried to spray finish with a waterbased product and it all went wrong and the state I got myself into was really quite embarrassing on reflection. Your nitro is looking superb. How many coats did you manage to finish on?

I'm afraid I have no recording equipment other than my phone, I'll maybe look into a cheap mic when I get back from work in a few weeks time.
The nitro finish was 2 coats of sanding sealer and 8 coats of nitro. After sanding through the sides I resprayed the sides with another 6 coats I think. Next time I will go for 2 coats of sanding sealer and 8 nitro again but add more thinners as Francis suggested for the final coats to minimise orange peel.
I really enjoyed the finishing process despite the problems.

Thanks Gavdav! Where abouts are you based? I'm in St Helens (Merseyside). I'm away for 6 or 7 weeks (the joys of life at sea) but you would be more than welcome to have a go once I'm back and I've finished setting it up.
I reckon it will be a few more before I'll try and sell one lol, got 2 on the go for family members and then I'll see if I'm happy with them.
I do have a couple of nice guitars planned after that though, an IRW/ torrefied spruce dreadnought and a quilted sapele/Sitka om. I've built one and I'm already thinking about 6 guitars ahead š
