Well I'm starting with a finished image which I guess is wrong. I have other progress images and will sort them out and follow up on this post. Francis

Beautiful! And I'm sure it will sound every bit as good as the one rodders made off with at Halifax! Keith

So that's were you've been. Very tasteful design. Lovely choice of materials. Shame about the silence.

Looked at the pictures on your site here: milsomguitars.weebly.com/heathers-parlour.html . Great work! I just wondered why the neck strap button was placed as a Les Paul would have it rather than on the heel? How does the cherry sound? Cheers, Dale

Cheers, Dale Hi Dale - Cherry/WRC are a great sounding combo (to me), the strap button was placed there primarily because Heather has small hands and should she ever decend to the dusty end of the fretboard (and use a strap) then I felt it would hinder more than help - so made the exec decision to move it to the side - these a small wooden block inside to take any loading - the guitar is extremely light anyway.

As Keith says this project started at the Halifax meeting. After discussions with leoroberts (and Rodders) over a maple parlour originally intended for Heather, rodders became the new owner of the maple parlour... Few messages and emails followed and work commences... By chance Leo and Co were in my area on a family hol, so it seemed a good idea that Heather (of little hands!) came to see what progress had been made and try out a mock-up neck to see if the size / shape was suitable. Given the OK it was time to move the build along: Cherry has been used for the back and sides with Western Red Cedar for the soundboard. I added a side sound port as I was really impressed by there effect from other guitars at Halifax. A slotted head has been chosen and the machine heads fitted, I used squared off slots with a shaped ramp. Cherry has been used for the front facing and a darker veneer for the back face, both have contrasting veneers. The neck is a bolt-on using 4 bolts (2 into the neck heel and 2 smaller into the neck extension) joining the body at the 12th fret, the rosewood fretboard was taken to final dimensions and fretted before bonding to the neck and the neck then shaped to match the mock-up. I've french polished the back, sides and neck on this one, I had problems with french polishing the western red cedar top and had to strip it, opting then for an oil and hard wax finish. Final adornments were made: (big logo sorry Keith!) Just need to buff up the finish a little and its job done... This is indeed a thing of beauty. Phil

Stunning guitar, Francis! The woods look fabulous, and I really like your rosette design.
