Just to add to the 'Keith is Right' mantra, I too have recently acquired a G7th Newport capo (in sexy matt black), and have to say it operates beautifully and adjusts easily, holding the strings nicely in tune.
It's also very light and non-intrusive. Almost invisible on the guitar if I shut both my eyes...
The only thing I noticed is that string-bending does leave the bent strings a bit out of position, something I hadn't noticed with the Shubbs.
Oh well, can't have everything. For under £20 I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Martin, be honest - that envelope's a mock up... You've been shopping in Ann Summers again haven't you?

How much was the Yamaha? there seems to be a resurgence in those "stirrup" types - unusually this one isn't sprung!

G7 would be my pick. Newport or Performer (they do sound different though)

On the subject of capos....I just received this little beauty this morning in the mail from Japan. It's the Yamaha CP-200 Solid Brass Capodastro That looks rather like my Dan Crary capo.

I have guitars that cost less than that. Three of them in fact. That said, I hope you're happy with it & it does everything a Shubb doesn't

I'm assuming for you to consider it worth the additional 300% it must offer you some benefits over & above my trusty £15 capo? Better tension control? Less fret wear? More solidly built? More aesthetically pleasing?

More aesthetically pleasing? I think I already stated in my post above why I wanted to try it. I'm delighted your trusty capo cost you £15, but I don't think spending £48 plus additional charges represents an outrageous outlay. I already have Shubb and G7th capos and simply wanted to try a 'stirrup' style capo in brass to see how it would work and because I liked the look of it. Hope this helps
