Congratulations on purchasing a mighty fine guitar. I haven't been a particular fan of the K&K but I do find that it works nicely on my S25. That’s interesting - what have you not liked about it in the past and what’s different in the S25?

ideally I'd like to get another Lr Baggs Anthem SL installed but I think they only do the full system as a split saddle... there's a guy selling the full system on the Lowden group on facebook for a really good price. www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1344799302239975/

Just been down at Mansons trying pickups out - tried the rare earth and it was 'okay'... a bit plinky and not that pleasant so that's off the list. The Lr Baggs M1a I couldn't even get in without taking the strings off and it's a big pickup so I figured it'd block the soundhole too much... they had a Furch there with a k&k installed which I tried out and it did sound really good, it might have persuaded (along with Keith & Glynn's sound at the gig last week) to try the k&k again but I'm a little 'once bitten, twice shy' - it sounded really good when I had it in a martin 000x1 a few years back, but was too boomy in my OM28v... Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and give it a go...

The rare earth blend is good, the standard sans mic is OK - but a compromise that lots of split saddle folks seem to go for. I like them, but since I started using the Anthem I'm really happy with the under saddle sound.

Yeah the anthem in my Martin sounds great, better than anything I've heard... having said that I've just ordered a k&k mini for the lowden... I'm giving it one last roll of the dice to convince me it can work - since I used one before I've got more accomplished at doing my own sound, and have got better at communicating to soundpeople what I want - plus I tend not to book gigs that are loud anymore and would always have my Martin there with me if there was an issue... We'll see, if it doesn't work I'll just pop the contacts off like I have in the past and go from there...

That’s interesting - what have you not liked about it in the past and what’s different in the S25? I can't be specific - it just makes the S25 sound natural but for me it didn't have the same effect on my G9. It's very subjective.

What setup are you using and at what sort of volume? even though I've ordered the k&k now I'm still in two minds about it - I fear it'll either work out great, or work out not great and it's 50/50 either way, not 100% I want to take the risk and waste £100 that could have gone towards another system that I can actually hear in the guitar before committing to (like the rare earth or rare earth blend for example)...

I plug straight into an Acus One-8. I don't even put it through my Headway Mini as it sounds better without it. I couldn't tell you what the volume is, but it's certainly not high. As I know only too well from experience, you're not going to know how it works out for you until you try it. Good luck.

market research.... if there were an emoji for self-flagellation I would employ it haha! Not sure I count Ed Sheeran as 'esteemed company'... for some reason people seem to compare me to him all the time but I think it's often many people's only reference for a young man playing an acoustic guitar - I don't think I sound (or look!!) anything like him.

"since I started using the Anthem " I keep saying that, when what I mean is since I started using the AURA... stupid random brand name things... I mean the Aura, and just the Baggs Element under saddles.
