I've had my own site for a couple of years, but all I had on it until now was a basic one page bio, and contact details. Sorting it out was in the all too difficult box!
Well, no longer. My new improved site is now live at:
www.richardknottsongs.com
I know there are some strong views in these parts as to whether the contents should be written in the first (preferred ) or third (frowned upon ) person. In an obsequious attempt to please everybody, I've used both...
Seriously, after much research, and discussions with people who know about these things, the 'about' or bio page is in the third person. My basic bio was taken and jazzed up, to an almost embarrassing degree, by a friend who runs his own marketing and PR company. As well as using words that I would never use to describe myself, he pointed out that the bio will be lifted by promoters looking for some blurb about you, that third person is the industry standard and is thought to look more professional, and that by including your name several times (which would look a bit odd in the first person..."I, Richard Knott, am a guitarist and songwriter...") the chances of search engines finding the site are increased. I know the first point is true, so I've gone along with it. World domination will surely follow...
If anyone spots any glaring errors, typos, broken links or other glitches, please do let me know. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy having a mooch around.
Oh, and there are 60 second previews of every song on my new CD! (shameless plug ) - but if you want to order it, don't use the website, drop me a PM.
Finally, andyhowell will be relieved to know that, other than posting the website link to Facebook and maybe putting a further track from the album on Soundcloud, this is the end of my little pre Christmas marketing splurge. Thanks for your indulgence folks.
