You aren’t wrong! Most buskers in Bath don’t use battery amps, they use external power supplies (that I don’t quite understand how to use!). One irritating chap who plays all that tippy tippy stuff even has a massive PA system and a full pedal board with a couple of strymon pedals. Robbie I was rather fascinated by all this on my last visit. I had a chat to one guy who showed me his system. He was using a battery powered AER Compact with an additional battery arrangement that could feed into the power socket. He told me that using this onboard and external batteries he could get about 8 hours. I think he was sharing this with somebody else. To be fair though, I only discovered him because I heard the sound a street away and even from that distance could hear it was very good! SaveSave

I always recommend that amp based on a simple observation that buskers I hear using them always send better than those using Rolands. I have a Roland Street Cube and I'm often frustrated that it makes great guitar sounds but is nigh on impossible to get a usable vocal sound out of. That said, it only took a few days of cold fingers and disdainful looks from passers-by for me to realise busking isn't really my cup of tea...

I read you can power the AER Compact Mobile with a leisure battery and not have to use an inverter. If you have the standard AER, you also need to shell out £££ for a 300w pure sine wave inverter as well as the leisure battery. The Compact Mobile amps start at £1350 ish and the batteries need to be replaced by AER for around £150 every year or so. The internal battery adds also add quite a bit of weight, the Compact Mobile is nearly 14kg compared to the standard AER Compact at 6.5kg. If money were no object then I would probably go for this setup, but sadly I am on a budget (and to be honest if money were no object I don't know how much time I would spend busking...)

I was back at RichTone today and although they do apparently sell the Laney 4x4 in the store, it was out of stock again. The sales guy said they sold them almost as soon as they got them in. I had met Phil with the AC-33 and was curious to see how they compared.
I took the AC-33 busking for 2 hours in Doncaster and it sounded absolutely brilliant.

Wild Violet that option is only really available for buskers in Bath. Either they are wealthier to tart with or Bath people tip very very well :-)
