My (deliberately sparse) arrangement of Jay Ungar's solo violin tune "Ashokan Farewell" with a fresh set of D'Addario PB EJ15 10 - 47s. More representative of An Féa Caol's timbre, I think. File

Thanks davewhite. I do think this recording captured the sweet high end of An Féa Caol more faithfully.

That's marvellous Dale - a lovely rendition of "Ashokan", and player and guitar in fine voice. Sweetness! Mark

Many thanks davewhite , Nuffsed , robmc , vikingblues and ocarolan . Did record my arrangements of the Welsh National Anthem and "Cranham" after "Ashokan Farewell" but hoping to record a few more things with An Féa Caol and the new strings before she needs to return to DeFaoite Central. Hopefully, some Nancy Kerr in DADGAD next. Dale

FileThat was just lovely Dale....very sweet sound indeed, the D'Addario PB EJ15 10 - 47s suite Anthea extremely well, and played beautifully Glyn

Thanks very much Nuffsed and Onechordtrick. Didn't have time to record for the last two nights but have 'broken up' for Easter today so I'm going to try to get a few more tunes on An Féa Caol before I have to return it to davewhite early next week. Dale

An unseasonal song so I'll call the tune by its name: Cranham. This whole process has been an incredible learning experience for me. So I'd like to thank davewhite and the entire Acoustic Soundboard forum for the opportunity and for a reason to record my playing. When I hear my arrangements played back so clearly, I appreciate where improvements need to be made e.g. bass line notes conspicuous by their absence or places where I need to back off and just let the melody (or individual notes) play / ring. I've learned also that moving the relationship between a guitar and mic just a few mm can make a vast difference to the sound. gavdav is going to love this sweet sounding guitar. File

Thanks Phil Taylor . It's going to take me a while to appreciate all I've learned this last fortnight. I'm looking forward to hearing how An Féa Caol sounds with other strings, in other tunings and with other players.

Dale, Beautifully arranged and played again and there's a good chance that the tune is a reasonable forecast for Monday's weather
