Hello,
My name is James Daubney and I am a solo acoustic guitarist. I began playing classical guitar at the age of 8 and later moved on to study the basics of the flamenco guitar as I was particularly interested in the rhythmic and percussive style. Within the last year or so, I have also started playing the steel string as I find some guitar techniques such as "harmonics" or "slap harmonics" are produced much clearer and resonate for longer.
I have played in many weddings, gigs and restaurants in around my home town (Swindon) and have also played at various venues in London. When I was 17 I achieved 3rd place in "Swindon's got talent" contest playing flamenco guitar. I also came second in my universities talent contest "Brunels got talent" and reached the final in another contest within my university. I have been a semi finalist in the "Uni Music League" (London based competition) in which various bands from universities around the UK compete. Also, I participate in various open mic nights in London.
I am 21 now and have just finished my degree in musical performance at Brunel university. I plan to carry on playing music in London. I have been writing my own pieces for around a year now and have created my own album "Horizons" which has also been used as my dissertation. My style is very melodic and features "extended techniques" such as percussive style playing.
Here is half the album on soundcloud: soundcloud.com/james-daubney (They are all played on a steel guitar)
YouTube: also:

Also my website has been made which is nearly finished!: www.jamesdaubney.com
As said above, I plan to carry on creating and performing my own music. I am very passionate about the guitar as it's an incredibly versatile instrument. A Samhradh guitar would help me massively. As well looking amazing, it creates a beautiful tone and seems to be very capable of supporting alternate tunings which is something I use frequently (particulary DADGAD).
Thanks for reading
