Hi,
I’ve recently purchased a Gretsch G9511 parlour guitar, I think the strings on it are bronze and squeak a lot when I’m playing it, my wife says it’s driving her nuts. Any recommendations on strings that would alleviate this issue.
Cheers Ian

New strings or fast fret or both should do it.

I use Martin Silk and Steel strings on most of my guitars - quieter and more mellow than bronze, and far less squeak and brightness. They are definitely quieter, though, so that might not be your thing. Might be worth a try?

Before you go looking for less squicky strings, practice just lifting your fingers off the fretboard a little when you are shifting position. Otherwise try something like Elixir polyweb strings.

Elixirs plus some finger lifting works for me. Weirdly I find Fast Fret makes me squeak more!
