To help ease the pain on this day of mourning for an old friend I've decided to do another Road Trip - this time a mandolin one - and Martin has kindly allowed me to do it via Acoustic Soundboard. The format will be similar to the first guitar Road Trip that I did with each participant having the instrument for two weeks and then either meeting up with the next participant or arrange and pay for posting the instrument via courier with tracking to the next participant. Each participant then writes a short review here on Acoustic Soundboard and any recordings/videos while they have the instrument can be put up here or in the "Plucky Duck" although this part is optional. The instrument will be my "Ceol Binn" in European spruce/bubinga and I will make it during March/April and document the build here on Acoustic Soundboard. I plan to launch the Road Trip at the East Anglia Guitar Festival on 5th May. and will fit the logistics around the HB4 meet in September. Participants have to be active members here at Acoustic Soundboard and I will need details of address, phone and e-mail. You can register an interest by responding to this thread and I'll then pm you to arrange to get details.

Great idea, Dave! And very generous, too. If you start the road trip in Halifax, I can even join this time, if only for acouple of hours

Me, me, me .... Is this a mandolin similar to the one you brought to HB3, Dave? It seemed to have a little more room for the chubby-fingered amongst us

Hello Dave. Have only just joined so probably not qualified as an "active member" yet but certainly interested in taking part!
Hoping to be at East Anglia show too - will probably bring Ceol Binn II with me.
cheers
