I have a delightful great nephew, who is a pretty good guitarist. At the moment he owns a Taylor dreadnought as well as various bits of solid wood with sockets in. He calls them guitars, but...
Any road up, his Mum, my niece, phoned me because he wants a classical/nylon strung guitar for Christmas and she wants to know what to get. She asks me because, of course, I am the font of all knowledge regarding guitars! (Oh, how little she knows).
She's got a budget of £600, which I think would stretch a bit, but not a whole lot, so what's the best buy classical guitar wise for around £700 or lower?
He has been travelling around South America for a while this year and has been playing with some Brazilian and Argentinian musicians, so he's got into some Bossa Nova and jazzy stuff, and I think that's where the desire for a classical/nylon strung comes from.
Anybody got any suggestions? He's based in London now for at least 8 months, so there's no possibility for him to buy in South America. My instinct is to take him to Ivor Mairants and let him play everything in sight. But you, the forum have the answer, I just know you have!

I was going to say Córdoba too. ALhambra are pretty good as well, but don't know what the current price of those are.

For Latin American type stuff, the Cordoba GK Studio Negra has a really good reputation and it's UK street price is £615. A guy off a flamenco forum I post has one, here's a video of him playing it

The Negra is a great guitar. and the Fusion and this one were the two I compared. I chose the Fusion, because the Negra has a more shallow body. Cool for amplified playing, but not so for pure acoustic.

This is a good shop.i wouldn't worry too much about the neck width as the neck profile is just as important. I would defiantly get him to go and play the guitars so that he understands what is comfortable to him.
This is a very good shop and they will look after him.
