Maybe converting the frequency choice in question to binary would help? 0b110111000 or 0b110111010 NO - doesn't help! Mark

I started recording my album last night at a studio round the corner from me. Great set up, and we achieved a superb sound. Coincident pair, spaced omnis, a single AKG 414 in the middle, plus the guitar's dual source pickup. Anyway, I digress. After laying down two tracks the producer said to me 'have I tried 432'? He claimed that, in his opinion, when you average out the 'out of tuneness' that is inevitable with guitars in alternate tunings. I was struggling to get my bottom string to sound in tune with octaves and 5ths. Got there in the end, but then we decided to actually try it, so I recorded Fields of Gold at a pitch of A= 432. Weird experience whilst actually playing, but when listening back it did actually sound extremely pleasant. In his view the guitar's harmonics coalesced much more. Anyway, need to decided whether the album is going to be recorded at 440 or 432. I will report back. Oh, and I also discovered the produced is an extremely fine double bassist Robbie

To quote the second greatest physicist in the world, Sheldon Cooper. "The best number is 73. Why? 73 is the 21st prime number. Its mirror, 37, is the 12th and its mirror, 21, is the product of multiplying 7 and 3... and in binary 73 is a palindrome, 1001001, which backwards is 1001001." So I'll shall be tuning all guitars to 73. Hold on that doesn't work.

of course it does just do it the Sheldon way: the difference between 7 and 3 is 4. the last number you needed for this formula was 3 and the first to begin with was 7. which makes 437. Where is the problem?

If I wanted to do a cover of a Tom Robinson song would it be possible to 468?

Hey, now we have my subject for the Halifax lecture, I could spend the whole three days telling you about seismology and the way the earth vibrates, I have spent my whole life studying it! Don't bother bringing a guitar, just your note books and best brain cells. Halifax is going to be such fun. I understand for the next three days the earth's magnetic field will have changed its axis to hover over Halifax ...

I'm not sure about the magnetic field, but the centre of Gravity will certainly be in Halifax!

Guys, guys, get with it. The A440 has been closed for bridge repair works, and while the A442 is a pretty poor diversion. It will get you to Telford, which as we know, is never a good thing. I don’t know. Telford is not completely lost ...

Oh Cock !!!! . I have just discovered that my Polytune clip clip on tuner can only change the pitch reference down to 435- what’s the f*£*£&£*% point in that? Suppose I’ll have to stick to 440 then
