I have short fingers so the narrow nut width suites me just fine. I also have a high gloss Venus. I have the mercury tuned to dadgad the tone is better than my playing. 'the tone is better than my playing ?' I wouldn't worry too much about that. The same apples to probably 99% of us, certainly to me .

FYI. I posted a comment on the Faith website and had a response within about 30 minutes as below. ****************************** HI John, Thanks for the feedback. Always appreciated. Although not a Naked model, there is currently a Pro series Classic Burst Mercury with a 45mm nut. www.faithguitars.com/guitars/by-shape/mercury/product/114-fmsb45-bnc-parlour Your comment about the naked mercury is noted tho, and we will look at the nut options for the future. My very best to you John Alex Mew Associate Director ******************** Always worth letting people know when they do things right and making suggestions. John

I had been thinking about buying maybe a travel guitar but, more likely a 12 fret parlour mainly for portability. I called into James Music in Carmarthen a few days ago and tried a Faith Mercury Naked. I couldn't believe how nice it was. Incredibly responsive with a lovely sound. I had read a lot of people praising Faith guitars before but hadn't had a chance to try one.
The only problem was the 43mm nut width. I'm waiting patiently for Roger Bucknell to tell me any day now that my Alexander is ready to be collected and that has a 45 mm nut so buying 43 wouldn't make sense. But, it was lovely. I'm just rambling now but, if anybody's interested in a parlour for not very serious money i'd recommend the Faith.
John

Very interesting. The idea of setting the metronome to half the speed that you want to play something is simple but, on the face of it, very effective. Just got to try it now.

Thanks all for nice comments. I'll try to be patient for the next 6/7/8 weeks. It's not all bad. Four of those weeks will be spent in Majorca
