It’s usually just a case of tweaking the position of the bridge to get the best intonation even if it’s not perfect. Goodtime banjos from Deering are pretty good for the money. How is the head tension? It may need adjustment. And, changing strings can make a noticeable difference. This is very helpful: www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/banjo-care-and-maintenance-guide/

Absolutely brilliant! Long and thunderous applause from the audience after every song.
Her mother was sat in front of me and I asked her if there’d be more UK gigs. She said hopefully but “She’s still at school so we have to work round that”.
Unbelievable!
I’m going to talk to her manager to see if I can get her to play Bury Met.

I’m heading up to Glasgow next Saturday to see her at Celtic Connections. I’ve been wondering if I could promote a gig at Bury Met but I think she’s too big already.

So is it pronounced "Les Cousins" or "Les Cousins"? Peter Although it was supposedly named after a French film of the period, I never heard it pronounced anything other than Les Cousins. Hope that helps. Actually Les Cousins was the son of a leading trade unionist Frank Cousins. Not noted for his musical ability.

I’ve known Phil since we both worked for the same government department, over 40 years I guess. This is an unbelievable shock. Condolences to his family, RIP.

I have at least a dozen banjos. I’m only two junctions further down from where you would turn off to go to Eagle Music. You’re welcome here to get an idea of what you might want before you go to Eagle. They’re mainly Deering dealers, in fact they’re the biggest dealer in the world. They’re nice people and I’ve bought and sold through them several times. They have two of my banjos on consignment at the moment. Anyway you’re very welcome here.
I had a Deering Boston 6 sting banjo back around 2000. Like you I thought it would be easier but I didn’t like it . Sold it to John Pearse. We both lived in the USA at the time.

I will occasionally play charity gigs and I never take anything, not pay or expenses. I have been offered expenses a few times but I’ve either declined or put them in the collecting pots.
However, often they are not enjoyable because the organisers haven’t a clue about music snd musicians and seem to think they’re doing me a favour by allowing me to play. There’s also a tendency to have a band or even a DJ playing all evening except for the food break when they want me to toddle on and play while nobody is listening and most people are talking very loudly. Stopped doing that a long time ago. So, it’s now very occasionally and only if I have an audience there to listen.

I was also a Kickstarter buyer. There are many others out there cheaper and more efficient. Ivor Mairants online stock them... Ivor Mairants is still alive then! Jonny Sadly he’s not. The company is owned by JHS.
