I’ve always found the longer I take to write something the worse it gets. I have revisited old abandoned songs but only to rip off the words or progression.

I often start new songs before I finish another one and I have lots of recordings of bits of songs. I write words all the time which helps when you find a nice melody. Just imagine how many songs people like Townes and Dylan wrote in their prime? Lots of my tunes are fairly short as I am often using words I’ve written before. I’ve got songs with less than 50 words let alone 50 verses!!

For the last year I have written constantly and have about 80 completed songs. I’ve released quite a few of these and for the most part are quite happy with them. Does anyone else write all the time and is it actually better to wait until you have a bang on idea? Monkeys, typewriters and Shakespeare spring to mind. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve written something only to find it sounds like something I’ve written before. I’ve even started writing bits on the piano to get some new sounds. Don’t judge me on that.

You could hire this kid and clip him onto your guitar.

bellyshere Can I get your opinion on the Stroboclip? All I've found in the past has been marketing blumpf. Have you used any of the sweeteners? I use their app on my phone which was fairly cheap and umm and aah sometimes about the buying the Stroboclip - to the extent of looking for a second hand one on eBay. They seem to go for not much less than a new one though. Yeah the sweeteners on the Stroboclip are good. I use the DADGAD setting all the time.

I’ve had a few snark ones and they always break. Since I coughed up a bit more for the Peterson Stroboclip, I haven’t had a break.

Stumbled across this guy whilst browsing the net for new music. It's a bit different but give it time. At times he reminds me of John Martyn. I really love the nuances of his playing.

My advice would be take up the drums. It’s just hitting things. (0:

Yeah it’s 500 so I’m not sure. The guy at DV247 said there shouldn’t be any extra charges but he didn’t seem convincing. DV247 have a UK store and warehouse. They do but the particular thing I want is from their Europe based store only.

Has anyone ordered stuff from our estranged cousins in Europe since good ole Brexit? For example Thomann and DV247. I just wondering about getting hit with import costs when it arrives.

If I had £1500 burning away in my pocket I would head over to Glenn’s guitars and there’s a nice Brook Teign or that Rob Armstrong.

"Rainer Kallenbach considers each guitar as a work of art" The back looks like its not exactly book-matched, he needs to go to specsavers That back doesn’t look good.

Anyone looking for a reasonably priced 8 string baritone along the lines of the Taylor one should note that this has just been announced by Guild: guildguitars.com/g/bt-258-deluxe/Exciting news that! Very good price range for the 8 string! Although so far I've only seen it at Thomann but guess when officially released other UK shops may have them as well. Can’t believe how cheap they are knocking these out. The 6 string one on Thomann is only £392.
