I'll never understand the reverence for these things. I had one a few years ago, it got binned, bloody useless thing. Much prefer the spring type one I have. I would venture to suggest, Larry, that whilst you might not have enjoyed your 'Shubb experience' there are plenty that find them exactly what is needed. It's not exactly reverence, it's just pleasure in, and loyalty (I guess) to, something that works (for those who like 'em)

I dread to think how much these lovely anniversary models might cost Well, the first offering (Violet Sky C1vs) is $50... not too extortionate. Though there'll be P+P, and presumably import tax...

The Orsino would do - but I’m only dreaming so why limit myself? 😀
Yes, not a lot of RB in the video - but rather too much of Ben Harper with his guitars in front of a radiator…

Just spent a happy hour watching the 50 Years Of Fylde video and now I want a Fylde (probably an Oberon). Then I made the mistake of opening the Brook newsletter and now I want a Brook (probably a Taw). Feck me, it never ends, does it? Maybe I need to start dropping hints about retirement to my family and/or employers

I must admit I quite like the brass one.

It's just possible that this is the greatest song ever written. Surprisingly easy to play - and yet I find it impossible to sing at the same time.
It's mad that she's not recorded an album since 2008 and I can't remember when she last toured (probably about the same time). She insists she hasn't retired, but...

I saw them live at Bury Met on Thursday and agree totally.
It was very reminiscent of when I first saw them as a duo supporting Ralph McTell back in the last millennium - including having to overcome a broken jack socket on one of Steve’s instruments (Phil just passed him one of his and played something else instead).
The evening left me excited/wondering/sad about a few things:
Will the new songs get recorded (I particularly enjoyed the chip shop song)?
Will they give time for their voices to rest? I know I can’t talk - but they weren’t hitting as many high notes as usual, changing melodies to accommodate either a long tour or just age.
The merch lass said that Phil is hoping to do some more stuff with Paul Downes again - and that prospect fills me with joy (though I suspect it will mostly be in the West Country)
It reminded/reemphasised just how much Miranda Sykes brought to their recent live performances.
How did they get away with not playing Galway Farmer?
And, of course, the big one: will they ever tour/record again or will the indefinite hiatus turn into a permanent one?
There was, and is, clear friendship and mutual respect.
They have added so much to the canon of UK acoustic music. I hope, whether individually or together, that continues.

That looks rather spiffing, bellyshere. If You don't win a FFG, offer one of these as YOUR prize, and I don't win it... I'd like one

From having seen GG close up on a few occasions (but a while ago) - including workshops at the Llyn Acoustic Guitar Festival - I remember him talking about using all 3 of his ‘free’ fingers to play. I wonder if his style has had to change for some reason…

I saw them play this (in Chorley - years ago before Miranda was on the scene) the same day that Steve'd finished writing it.
It's a cracking song.
Seeing them at The Met in Bury on Thursday - hope they'll play it then, too.
