No Keith I didn't I took the Fylde instead. The Patenotte is a playable guitar but ye olde truss rod free neck is a bit of a handful! I took the Patenotte to a session in York a few weeks and played it all night and next morning my hands were decidedly uncomfortable

It was part of the Hull Jazz Festival jnight.org/hulljazzfestival.php(There's two Jazz Festivals in Hull one in summer and one in winter) The offer of the Tim Kliphius Trio in concert on Friday night and a two hour workshop on Saturday morning for £20 was an absolute no brainer. All three members of the trio attended the workshop. The two tunes chosen to work on were Minor Swing and Daphne. TheTrio played through the tunes Tim highlighting options for variations and solos The group were split into guitars and fiddle. Tutoring the guitar group was the Trios guitarist Nigel Clark, whose playing style I particularly like, and Tim tutoring the fiddles After half an hour the full group reassembled and the trio played through the tunes with the attendees each soloing in turn. Tim then had the trio play through the tunes with the attendees "trading fours" in turn then trading two bars which was pretty hectic. The group was a real cross section with all ages and abilities represented and its a reflection on Tim and Nigel's tutoring abilities that everyone went away with feeling that the workshop had been time very well spent and that their knowledge and ability had been advanced

A thoroughly enjoyable and constructive weekend. I was in Russ Barenburgs group I think all the group members appreciated his rigorous approach. The tutor concert on Saturday night was a treat I particularly liked Mike Marshals Brazilian Choro piece,a genre of music that I'd never heard before. The catering side of things was spot on I doubt anyone went hungry. The sessions were good and varied, my preference was for the more old time stuff though I enjoyed being a spectator at some of the Bluegrass ones which were pretty high octane stuff! In summing up, I'll go again for sure!

I've recently got into Danish music and am pretty impressed with the fiddler Harald Haugaard who played in our town year before last and particularly with a band called Trio Mio whose music I listen to exclusively on the daily dog walk!
