Nice. As is a 72 Tele Deluxe (lovely neck on those if I remember rightly).

Massive fan here! And I totally agree about his acoustic v electric work - I prefer the earlier stuff too. Went to see him last year at Bristol. Was in a room so small he sang Northbound 35 pure acoustically, standing right in the middle of us all: I bought Miles From The Lightning at a reasonable price on Amazon last year. Just had to have it!

Great review! I was there a week early - had a pint in the Brasenose Arms, dipped a lure in the canal, and had a wander round the village. It was all quiet peaceful and empty.

Brilliant! Big Tele fan here. I have a Tokai Breezysound from the mid-80s that's done in paisley just like James Burton had in Elvis's band, and I have a Mexican 72 Custom Reissue - Mick Green / Keef style. Love 'em both!

I can't tell the difference in sound between a cutaway and not, if I'm honest. But I've said similar things before - I envious of all the great ears here. I was listening and watching Pat Donahue play recently (on the Tube) and started lusting after a cutaway after seeing what he does with one... but then I realised that the truth is I'm in the Martin (Martin the Administrator, not Martin the Manufacturer - although I do have a 00015m on my lap at the mo') camp and don't venture up the dusty end very often. Certainly the 12th fret is high enough for me. Anything above there can be played down the proper end with a bigger sound and less effort on the arm muscles!

Lovely guitar. I've been looking at semis recently, not seriously as there's no room in the inn, but that GAS is starting to expand having seen the pics above!

I've heard only good things about Faith, and once or twice have almost done the same as Martin and gone for a Neptune. I'm trying hard to keep this GAS under control though...Just about managing it. Bit for everyone else, I say go for it!

I've promised myself I'll give another tuning a proper go once I've learned standard tuning properly, if that ever happens. Assuming it does, I reckon I'll try Drop D.

I was listening to Davey Graham on the commute this morning. Some lovely DADGAD playing going on there. Some lovely non DADGAD too!

Superb. Don't think I could pull that off, but it was neatly done.

Yep, Derek Trucks (and Mr Winter - who was a seminal influence) were mentioned earlier in the thread which was why I felt I had permission to mention Lowell. Must admit I'm quite tempted by one of Mr Messer's reso guitars. EDIT: Have to say I love Susan Tedeschi's version of John Prines's Angel From Montgomery

I must have missed this thread until today - lots of catching up to do on the videos. Glad to see a Harry Manx and some Kelly Joe Phelps tucked away amongst the pages. And a mention of Jerry Douglas, too. Jerry is one of my favourite musicians - he just makes that dobro sing.
We've just started doing No Expectations in one of my ensembles which gives me an excuse to play a bit of slide, and whilst I've got the guitar tuned to E I get to do my own "I Don't Believe In Lies" previously posted here. Always enjoy giving the slide an airing.
Need some Lowell George though, even though he's not acoustic. Can't have a slide thread without Lowell.

Great version! I love that tune but that's the first time I've heard it slid. Beautiful and impressive!
