Well I think some thank you's are in order here.
The first to Martin (Scanbran ) who had the prescience to start this forum. secondly to Keef (O'Caloran) who need I remind you was the senior and only Global Moderator on the Acoustic forum, commiserations to him also as he has lost his job and is going to be down the social Friday. The only jobs bigger than a global mod are Head of the United Nations, Manager of England and The Pope.
Come to think of it Keith I think that playing guitar at Church parade on Sundays might of come in handy if you catch my drift.
I have already decided to cancel my Acoustic sub. Much as I like Fleetwood Mac they are not an acoustic band I can see were Blaze are going with this next month it will be the Tremeloes or the falsetto harmonies on traditional folk songs of the Partridge family.
Whilst they magazine gave no warning about what was going to happen with the forum I think we are all grown up enough to see what was going to happen.
I shall email SD and SW and enough of us are in touch with others to keep it bubbling over.
see you soon guys and gals. whoops

Just bought this fabulous album by Kathryn Tickell I suppose this is what we used to call a 'concept album'. It takes the form of concert at Cecil Sharp house with a good amount of narration about 'the traditional ways' in Northumbria', with some truly mesmerising music backing up the well delivered texts, interspersed with pure instrumental music and the occasional song. I wasn't sure I was going to like this, but I took a punt, and have just spent a truly captivating couple of hours listening to this and being fully enchanted by it. Well recommended. Does anyone else have it? Robbie I have the first album she ever did with the percussionist David Slapp If memory serves its was called a bit of Slapp ....................

She was awful song was as someone said childlike. It reminded me of that song the wheels on the bus. And as for the review "Carol King without the angst" and talent and musical ability. You wouldn't find James Taylor singing one of Lady G's songs

It may be me but I watched the highly publicised Crossfire Hurricane last nite and was distinctly unimpressed
To much of the same stuff from different angles and lots of talk of young ladies having ahem accidents.

I know he is old (like me) and has been dead nearly 20 years but I still think he was a great songwriter and singer. He had a vocal range of nearly 3 octaves.
On BBC 3 or 4 there is an hour long programme on his life (some of it very sad) he lost a wife and later two young children in a fire.
Lots of interviews with George Harrison, Geoff Lynn, Barbara Orbison who is still a looker ;D clips from the Monument concert. And anyone who can get a backing group of Bruce Springsteen, K D Lang Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt et al must be great and to play in the same band as Harrison,Lynne , Dylan and Tom Petty. nuff said
Ringo Starr has a great quote
"Roy Orbison was the only act that The Beatles didn't want to follow." -
Comes across as a really nice generous man

Rock and Rollllllll !!
Its nice and light I like the blue (Martin must have been busy decorating) Could do with a few pictures on the wall and can't they serve any real ale in the bar.
Incidentally are we going to have a poll for what we call the virtual bar.
My choice is De Faoite Arms as Dave has contributed so much towards this forum. Or we could call it the Martins Arms for obvious reasons
or a European direction would be Bernds Boozer
