I’ll stick with the one I’ve had 40 years. If it ain’t broke………… Values shared by Yorkshiremen and Scotsmen.

One of my favourites from the eighties. I think her voice is even better now.

Yeah. I’m not going to pretend that I know what redister pins are. I googled it and am none the wiser so I’m back to being the dog watching the conjuror. I doodleg it and I think he means register pins... Peter Thanks Peter. I still have no clue. My ignorance is boundless.

I’ve been a fan of Ms Giddens for many years. She is a regular visitor to Scotland and I rarely miss her CONCERTS. Usually we are treated to Americana and gospel styles; music that affords Rhiannon opportunities to use that extraordinary voice of hers. This CONCERT was rather different. Her band consisted of Dirk Powell ( Cajun accordion, keyboards, electric guitar telecaster, Gibson acoustic guitar and fiddle), Niwel Tsumbu, a Congolese chap on various guitars, a statement that completely undersells his talents and performance, Attis Clopton on percussion, ( yeah me neither and had to google him) superb drummer, Francesco Turrisi, a jazz keyboard player and a guy on basses, double and electric, whose name I did not catch. All in all a very eclectic group and therefore so was the music. Jazz, soul, Cajun, funk and gospel. Utterly superb. Not, I must say, to everyone’s taste and there were a few seats that were empty after the intermission. I bumped into a friend who said that he wasn’t sure about all this electric stuff. It wasn’t quite on the scale of Dylan’s 65 Newport Festival performance but many were not happy.
Those who stayed were treated to an equally superb second set culminating in Roberta Tharpe’s “ Up Above My Head” that had the joint rocking. If you like a wide variety of music styles, and some of the songs had a blend of several, then, like me you were a happy camper. She, of course, can sing anything. A friend kindly gave Mrs doc and me a lift home so there were/was no chips. c/f Friday lunchtime thread.
In Glasgow there is a Royal Concert Hall; not a Royal gig Hall. Mozart wrote piano concertos and not Piano gigos. Just saying.

It’s already very beautiful. That wood on the back is especially so. Cheers, Francis.

I think I’ll just put it on a table and look at it. You take it easy now, Francis. We’re none of us as young as our wives want us to be.

I could be wrong (I was mistaken once before ) but I believe Richard Thomson and his lad, Teddy, both play Lowden on stage. You’re OK Doc, it was just the once 😆 RT has his own artist signature model, with Ziricote b&s, but in an interview I read said that he only has one of those, and keeps it for recording. On stage he apparently uses a stock cedar/walnut model, so he must also consider them a bit pricey. Teddy had a prototype RT signature; I assume Lowden gave Richard that plus the first production model? Unlike Doc, I’ve been wrong on numerous occasions, so I might have mis-remembered all of that. No, Otis, I think that your memory is spot on. And you have a lot more to remember than I. I’m delighted if I remember how to get home. I had a go on a couple of Lowdens in Guitar Guitar in Glasgow and I was underwhelmed. Now when I heard Teddy Thomson live I was overwhelmed and just wanted one like his. Of course he would have his sound passing through all kinds of electronic equipment but at the time I was lovestruck. By the Lowden, you understand, not Mr Thompson. I do think that they are beautiful to look at though.
