Great videos. Thanks for posting. Saw him in Derry last year, and it was a moving experience. The Girl on the Jersey Ferry, to be honest, brought a bit of moisture to my eyes (must be getting old and silly). I love the sound of both the old Gibby and the Martin, the latter obviously used for open tunings, and yes, it sounded better than most Martins I've heard.

The last two months have seen almost thirty gigs, mostly because of our trip from Norway to Lancashire and Cumbria, playing Norwegian folk music in all sorts of (nice and crazy)venues. I did get the chance to sneak in Homeward Bound and Cathy's Song, though, because of the English link. :-) Having passed sixty, gigging extensively is still fun, but it takes it's toll..

Sad to hear that. His three solo acoustic cd's sound great. Strange that he lets his acoustic gigs sound under par.
Ben and Josienne are great, btw.

Hello all. Will be going to Lancaster on September 27th with a small group of Norwegian folk musicians. We are playing at the Gregson Centre on the 28th. I will also go to Penrith and visit Roger Bucknall (Fylde) in his workshop Friday 29th. I was just wondering, being in Lancashire and Cumbria, if anyone can recommend instrument shops and/or concert venues worth attending during the weekend. Thanks, John

Hi Richard, Yep, it's fiddle back mahogany - a real stunner. Sounds great too. I had Martin Simpson and family at the house last week for a short stay and he was pretty blown away with it ! Cheers, Ian Well that's quite an endorsment! Do you have any sound clips or videos?

Reminds me of when Macca made a single with Kanye West, and some people thought "this Maccartney guy sounds promising"..
