Hey hughesy I’m not in a position to offer advice from personal experience but there’s many options worked over the years - don’t rule out the originals...

All seems like a very natural and comfortable musical fit - you guys work brilliantly together.

Why don’t I have any friends that own guitar shops?
Actually, why don’t I have any friends?
(Oh, BTW that guitar is very easy on the eye - congratulations!)

You’re not useless, and you’re not terrible; like the rest of us, at any level, at one time or another, you’re just frustrated with the outcomes you’re getting at the minute.
I look at it this way - if I was ever to get any better, I’d become more critical of ever more minor faults in my playing and so probably enjoy it even less.
I like Martin’s plan for grinding out the basics, timing and technique of something that will give you pleasure - it doesn’t have to be a masterpiece to make you feel good, but you will feel better with the help of some regimented practice.......now hark at me too.....!

You know, scorpiodog, posting that kind of stuff really doesn’t help those of us who have a well justified sense of musical inadequacy. But I’m very glad you did. What a wonderful piece of virtuoso playing.

Do you have any sense, Chris, of how many of their pictorial (ie not the CEO) limited editions Martin typically sell?
I think they generally look awful and can only assume that the market comprises a small number of (U.S.?) collectors.
Also, from your knowledge of the market, do any other manufacturers produce similar limited edition monstrosities?

Oh yes, it's complete shite. In fact one of the downsides of Brexit is that it will become cheaper due to lower tariffs, making it more affordable to those of limited means and poor judgement. Those people need protection. Have you noticed which way the GB pound is going? Sure have - the boys at Brook and Fylde et al will need to get recruiting big time to meet the surge in export orders. Fantastic news for the UK music industry. I still worry about the trombone manufacturers though.

But...even if you think Brexit is a good idea, the guitar is still naff, right? Oh yes, it's complete shite. In fact one of the downsides of Brexit is that it will become cheaper due to lower tariffs, making it more affordable to those of limited means and poor judgement. Those people need protection.

Anybody remember the domesday scenarios painted around the turn of the century by the catastrophe mongers regarding the "millenium bug"?
Burning planes falling from the sky into yer porridge, mass accidental nuclear missile launches, trombones wilting, people covered in boils......

Yep - too many factors.
Looking at it another way, if one took a 14 fret guitar and converted it to a 12 fretter by sliding the neck into the body and moving the bridge, keeping the scale length, bracing (and as much else as possible) the same, and doing the best you could to patch the holes in the top etc.....how would you expect the sound to change?
