Brilliant thread,Leo. Sounds like a great way to start lessons - straight to a wonderful player and songwriter! I was there when Steve gave that workshop. I’d never heard of him before, sorry to say, but he was brilliant. I bought a few of his cd’s and have given them plenty of playing time. He came across as not just very talented, but a great communicator. I’m not QUITE as jealous as Paul…. but close enough.

Saw him perform in Dublin last night. Guests included Lúnasa, Tom Paxton, Declan O’Rourke… Excellent show, with Ralph in fine voice. Came across as a very humble, genuine guy too. Great night.

Treacherous I know but "yes!". I even managed to sell one this weekend and hope to sell a few more over the next few months in order to finally fund my recordings. I'm going to hide in the 'corner of shame' now.

Would Avalon/Lowden be a possibility for split saddles? Incidentally,I bought an Alhambra jumbo a few weeks ago. Really nice guitars.

That’s a great story and outcome, John. Well done to both you and Adrian. Surely a song in that tale…

Within limits, Brian. I think if you decide to collect wives because you love the one you've got, you're asking for trouble. A very good point. But I would get in at least as much trouble comparing my wife to a J45 - “slope shouldered dread”! Jumbo would be problematic...

As long as the guitar is the only thing that you wiggle…. Gosh Vinny, you were THERE, for goodness sake! Please pay more attention next time. Keith's moves are legendary! I’d blocked it out. Back to counselling for me.

Watching the latest uploads from HB15 CoD I was surprised and ashamed to see myself doing a "Youtube wiggle" at the end of a song. Sorry. I blame the whisky. Keith As long as the guitar is the only thing that you wiggle….

borborygmus Peter, I like the carbon additions to the top bracing as it allows for bracings to be lighter in cross section and the extra stiffness allows the top to be thinner too. This adds volume to a small instrument as I think owners will verify. The bracing pattern is also very symmetrical which I've felt gives an evenness to the guitar's range. But that's my thoughts and echo's the comments from owners who've given me feedback on their instruments. I have built with the Falcate brace pattern but without any carbon (increased brace heights). That produces a more mellow sound at a much reduced volume. Francis I can vouch for this. My Milsom is a great guitar.
