Here's the latest review from Acoustic Review - the Bose S1 Pro I really liked this speaker - it's compact, easy to use and sounded great. I wish the EQ was a bit better and that the gain structure was a bit more controllable but, that aside, it was a really good bit of kit - I'm debating getting one to use in conjunction with my AER for bigger gigs or to use as my own monitor...

Thanks Ben - nice review.
Soome immediate thoughts which you may have alluded to in yourreview, but it's quicker to ask than watch it again - sorry!
Presumably mains or battery operation...?
Any idea how long a recharge takes?
Does it charge whilst in mains operation mode?
Does it sound the same/as loud in battery mode as in main?
Is it a standard pole-mount not needing a specific Bose part?
Looks to be a great piece of kit!

Keith Hi Keith, Yes battery or mains The manual says 5 hours to charge (3hrs on quick charge) We didn't run it on the battery as we hadn't charged it up beforehand and we had 8 videos to do that day (Looooooonnggg day in the studio!) so I can't comment on that sorry. I think it charges from the mains but not when in use The speaker pole mount is built in so no additional kit needed

Thanks, Andrew it was a shure sm7b - probably not a mic that most people would use live and it is well known for not having a lot of gain, but it was what the studio had available that day- a sm58 or similar would probably be fine

I tend to use an AKG D5 for my own gigs - I find it a lot more open than the SM58 (although the proximity effect on an SM58 is nice sometimes!)

Yep..I was a bit surprised you mentioned the SM 58 as an alternative...a bit rocky and dare I say it ...yesterday!

If it had the phantom power which my current preferred preamp needs (and you can guess what that is jackorion, right? ), I’d probably have bought one by now!

I borrowed an S1 and a pair of T4S mixers for a recent gig at our folk club. It sounded wonderful. We put the S1 unit on the floor in front of us. It was far easier and quicker to setup than our conventional PA. It was plenty loud enough to fill a room holding 45 / 50 people.
If I didn't already own a Fishman Solo, I'd buy one.
