I really enjoyed playing this guitar and something about the tone really resonated with me - I've actually been looking at the Lakewood Custom guitar builder since playing it and wondering about picking one up at some point!

Resonated with me too - loved the sound on the vid whether picked or strummed. Not played any Lakewoods for quite a few years - this one seems to sound a little bit fuller and less brittle than the ones I remember. Price seems a bit fuller too, even allowing for inflation etc.
At first I thought the appearance was a bit anaemic, but by the end of the vid I rather liked it, and in the flesh (?wood)I'm sure it looks more interesting anyway.
Nice review!
New shirt, Ben?

I like it's overall appearance, and it sounds very nice. It doesn't blow me away but for the price range it's aimed at, it is perfectly placed.

Good review and nice guitar but slightly bland looking for my taste.

I think it's good value for money really, and I like the overall appearance, except for the rosette. I would have preferred a bit more bass in the overall mix, to me balance is all important and it does seem too mid/treble biased, but as you say different strings may help.
Oh and I think the string spacing at the nut is probably 45mm not 55mm!

I've had an M32 custom for many years now, it's tone and playability have been such that it has prevented any desire to buy another guitar since. (Apart from a nice handmade classical). It has a 48mm nut width. I asked for that. You can hear how it sounds in my YouTube videos. I'll try and put a link here. Http://www.youtube.com/mikefowlerguitarI think this may be the first time I've posted here, sorry about that.

I have an M18 and I remember very soon after buying it saying to myself 'if I buy another guitar I'll buy a Lakewood' - which is silly really. I've bought the odd second guitar over the years but when I look at a high end guitar with a view to buying, at some point I find myself thinking 'well i've already got a good guitar'. I'm not saying they are right for everybody - I'm just glad mine suits me, that's all.

Liked your Bohemian Rhapsody video Mike Fowler, used to listen to Queen's greatest hits in the car with my dad too and Paul Simon's Graceland, the two that stick out. Nice sounding guitars
