This is a lovely new CD from Amy and Gavin ( gavdav)Davenport. 11 songs either trad or more recently written ( incl. a couple by Gav) in the trad style. Both Amy and Gav have strong voices with power and delicacy well suited to the material. They sing beautifully together (gorgeous harmonies!)and separately. The tone of Amy's voice reminded me here and there of Linda Thompson at her best. Accompaniment is largely from Gav on cittern or guitar - ranging from chunky strummage to chiming delicately flat-picked lines. Here and there are smatterings of double bass, fiddle and hurdy gurdy. All the songs are presented simply and very effectively. The recording is very "real" and immediate, just as I like for this type of music. I've only listened to the CD once through, but took an instant liking to all of it -thoroughly recommended. I'll be playing it a lot more! You can buy one here - www.hallamtrads.co.uk/sales.html - mine arrived the say after I ordered it from the "family business" - excellent. And you can read a little more about Amy and Gav here - www.hallamtrads.co.uk/amyandgavin.htmlNice one Gav and Amy!

Much appreciated Keith, I think you win the prize for fastest review! We're launching the CD at Whitby Folk Week, where I'm also running a guitar workshop. It'd be great to see any forum members who might be around.
If anyone does want a CD you can DM me here also and I can sort them out for you.
