Given the interest in the BBC Country documentary series I thought I should give this album a plug.
I resisted buying this for a while though there are some great songs on it. I worried that there was too much God in it for me but then pulled myself together and reminded myself it was country! I know some of you like God but (as a miserable bastard to the core) I tend to the 'devil has all the best tunes' philosophy,
Gill ia a wonderful songwriter and superb guitar player. He also has one of the best country voices out there.
This is simply a wonderful album of the acoustic/acoustic country genre. The tributes to Guy Clark and to Merle Haggard are particularly;y poignant. It is also a fine repost top Trumpism although subtly done.
Thoroughly recommended.
