What a shame about the finish, but how great to have a new build thread to follow. Keith

It was hugely disappointing for both Francis and myself that the finish on the top of the Yew b and s guitar didn't work out to our satisfaction . I'm really happy and very grateful that Francis has offered to start another build...I think the bocote looks stunning . Otherwise the guitar is going to follow the same plans as for the yew build. I'm very much looking forward to seeing the build progress ...It will give us something positive to think about in these difficult times. Andrew

I'm very sorry to hear about the finish - so many hours more or less wasted. But I look forward to follow the new build.

Spent the last day or so gluing up the soundboard, taking to thickness and inserting the rosette. Next up will be the shaped Falcate braces.

The curved Falcate braces off the mould and split Next job with these is to put a 20 foot profile on one edge in preparation for bonding to the soundboard with carbon fibre tow and resin... TBC

The primary and secondary braces were bonded with carbon fibre and resin yesterday, the tertiary braces and being bonded now and will stay under pressure until morning. Cool in the workshop yesterday and the resin took over 12 hours to cure hard, warmer today so hopefully the resin will cure quicker. Gave me the chance to work on the primary and secondary bracing profiles before the shorter tertiary braces went in. The upper harmonic brace is flat so that will be glued in after the others are fully shaped.

Will do my best to remember the effort and skill that is going into the making of this guitar once I have it in my hands...

I've been shaping the smaller tertiary brace and bring all the braces to final profile before adding the final carbon fibre tow and resin layer to all braces. TBC...

Live back bracing in progress. Ladder braces were glued on first and shaped along their length. The short radial braces have now been added. These were taken to an almost finished shape before gluing. The Vee blocks protect the thin top edges from the pressure of the go bar poles.
