On the general board I've been asking for tuning suggestions for a near basket case parlour guitar project I've resurrected ( beats watching telly) the fret board has been dyed black to disguise it is a white wood could be holly poss acer or fruitwood any idea at suitable stain. The neck is a timber of a similar provenance but appears to have been varnished or revarnished over the stain and was coal black. I'm not looking at a museum quality restoration but the solid spruce top and nicely figured mahogany back and sides warrant some time and TLC. The brass frets are in good condition and unmarked as is the saddle that is a straight bar of nickel silver or similar. Any suggestions Thanks

I've put some pics on the Ancient Parlour Tuning threads I'm now toying with the idea of doing considerably more than absolute minimum to get a tune out of this
