Described as an Eric Bibb signature model, but it clearly isn't: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fylde-Eric-Bibb-Signature-Guitar-/251296322545?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3a826d93f1#ht_547wt_958For a start, the specs (copied off the website?) say a 5 piece cherry laminate neck, but this one is mahogany. The tuners should be gotoh 510s with the funky curvy buttons. Also, the truss rod cover should be a low profile one like the Gordon Giltrap sig. No picture of the back, so we don't know if it is actually Inidan rosewood. I can't tell what the label says, but to me this looks like a standard Alexander. I'm not doubting it is a genuine sale, but the BIN price would be excessively high for an Alexander. I bought my Eric Bibb (since sold) over 5 years ago, and I don't remember the specs changing at all. Robbie

That's a strange one. In the listing the seller goes on to say that the guitar is around five years old, so it should be pretty much the same as yours Rob. Can't quite make out what the label says on it, though.

Certainly not a standard Alex, which would have plain dot f/b markers. Your comments re neck etc on the Eric Bibb models are spot on Robbie. I reckon the label bears the number 7434, or 7404 handwritten as usual, then Roger Bucknall in small letters beneath it, then CUSTOM in larger letters beneath that. I am not absolutely certain, but I am reasonably sure that the label would make mention of Eric somewhere if it were an EB sig model. Can you remember from the label on yours Robbie? The number is about right for the quoted age, though I'd guess from the vagueness in the listing on this point that the seller is not the original owner. As such, he may well have been misinformed as to the exact model of guitar I suppose. Lack of pics of the back is always a bad sign, though may simply be an oversight. Anyone near Hebden Bridge might enjoy checking it out.....Graham....? Keith

My EB (2007 model) has "Eric Bibb Signature" typed across the bottom of the label, in the place where this one has "custom". Mine also has only two markers at the 12th fret.
I suppose it could be a custom variant based on an EB template but some explanation seems called for...

Here is what the neck is supposed to look like: And the headstock is supposed to have this type of truss rod cover: Notice also the tuners. Robbie

I have tried to produce a zoomed in image of the following to show the label: It wouldn't save though. Basically mine had the serial number (7501 in my case) with 'Eric Bibb Signature Model' written underneath and more importantly signed by Eric Bibb. Going by the serial number on the one on ebay, that model is later than mine, and I'm pretty sure the specs would not have changed. All evidence points to the fact that the ebay guitar is not a signature model, and either the buyer is perfectly innocent, and may have genuinely bought it thinking it the genuine thing, or they are trying to get more money by passing it off a considerably more expensive model. This seems very strange and makes me think that Fylde have actually changed the specs. Does yours have the cherry laminate neck and flat truss rod cover? Robbie p.s this also makes me wish I didn't have to sell mine- it was a lovely guitar

I shall be trading mine in for a new custom Fylde due in the next couple of months. I shall be very sorry indeed to see it go but this is the deal with my domestic line manager in exchange for her gracious agreement to a self-indulgent and extravagent marking of my "big six o". As the time approaches, I am getting as excited as a six-year old at Christmas! Brian

It was a magical sounding guitar that, with a voice like nectar, but....just couldn't get on with the 43mm neck width. I still keep an eye on ebay that just in case it turns up again! Problem is I would end up having to pay more for it now than I did when I bought it new. Robbie

I love the tone and everything else about the guitar. I was entirely happy with it till my wife offered the once-in-a-lifetime chance of getting a guitar - and it has to be another Fylde - made especially for me. Who's a lucky boy (well, old git) then?!

Robbie The standard Alex (on which the Eric Bibb is based) certainly has a 43mm nut, but the EB sig model has a 44mm nut width. 45 or even 46 would be better though! Keith

Got this response from the seller when I contacted him to ask if he was sure this was an Eric Bibb model:
Hi ukrobbiej - Are you interested in buying or are you just "Tweeting". If you are genuinely interested I will pass your concerns on to Roger Bucknell at Fylde! Please advise.
- gunrunner2005
Robbie
edit: another communication from the seller this evening says that he has had it confirmed by Roger himself that "this is in essence 100% Eric Bibb" and that it is his current spec. The website still shows the old spec though, and I'm not sure I'm entirely convinced. Mind you, as Bibb supposedly has 9 Fylde guitars, I guess it could well be his sig model. Still feel there is something fishy about this one!
