How do you play them if you only have the normal number of hands?
The piece I’m working on has artificial harmonics marked as (4) 16 in the tablature which I assume means fret at the 4th, pluck the string whilst touching at the 16th fret?
But lacking a “charming assistant” to help out how do I play it?

Pinch harmonics, I think it's called. Effectively, fret with left hand as usual, and both touch the string at the sweet spot and pluck with the right. The easiest way seems to be touch with the thumb, as you pluck with the middle finger.

This may help, artificial harmonics start at 1.40. Good luck.

The easiest way seems to be touch with the thumb, as you pluck with the middle finger. Hmmm I'm not sure that's right... I don't think Artificial and Pinch harmonics are the same. Artificial harmonics are when you fret a note and then play a harmonic on it a 'harmonic' distance away...(e.g 12 frets..so fret 2nd fret, play harmonic at 14th fret). Johnny's video explains this well...I'd go with index just touching the harmonic note and pluck with thumb! Pinch Harmonics are the Eddie Van Halen style squeals, popular in that there Metal music, and are typically done with high gain and a technique of rolling the thumb onto a recently plucked string! Both take a bit of practice!

I watched this video and a couple of others a few weeks ago. Gave it a go. Decided life's too short!

I didn't mean to equate pinch harmonics with artificial harmonics, but as a way of generating harmonics with the right hand only, whether fretted with the left or not.
