Hi All I've just completed an Octave Mandolin commission for a local Blues musician. I normally build Steel Strings. This is my third Archtop but first Octave Mandolin. For some reason this became the toughest build I've ever done and I ended up having to re-rout the neck pocket and make a new neck to get the dovetail join perfect. This did delay the handing over but I'm glad to say that the owner absolutely love's it. Which is always a huge relief. Euro Spruce Top Flamed Koa B&S Shellac'd Burst with colortone dye's EM6000 Finish Thanks for looking

It looks marvellous! I hope to see some future build threads and wouldn’t mind some construction pictures from this one!

Wow! It looks wonderful, and if it sounds anywhere near as good as it looks then the owner would have to love it! Having followed some threads on this forum where the whole building process was followed and having been in awe of the patience and skill involved I'm shuddering to imagine the extent of the challenge of a "toughest build ... ever". That is just about the most awesome looking octave I have ever seen- a little bit like Northfield, but looks better built. Would love to hear what this sounds like. I have a friend who has been looking for an arch top octave and he would love this What’s the scale length btw?
