Thanks Leo, and obviously I'll see what I can do about changing its name...

Fantastic Martin! You can never have too many banjos. ;D It looks really cute, and sounds great too. I've never played a short scale one ... I may need to check them out.

That looks fab. I wish I had an open back banjo rather than the resonator banjo I've got.

Cheers Jane and Ross. The banjo is about 3" shorter than a standard model. Let me tell you, that may not sound a lot but in my world, 3" can make a helluva difference Not seen you around lately, Ross - what you been up to? Can't you detach the resonator section of your banjo (unscrew from flange) to turn it into an open-back? I did that with my first (crappy) banjo and it made a lot of difference to how it sounded.

I did not know that was possible!! I will get the screwdriver out tonight I've still been dropping by, but I've had a hellish last few weeks at work. It's almost done with now, so hopefully I'll have more time to toss it off surfing the net!

Having just been congratulating myself on getting a bargain for such a cool wee banjo, I'm now falling into the trap of over-spending on accessories!! I wasn't enjoying keeping the banjo in its box in the boot of my car and carrying it back and forth by the neck, so I decided to get a gig bag (£34!). I'm looking at replacing the head with a nice renaissance one (£15), getting a better bridge (£20) and a old time tail-piece (£10). Obviously it'll need new strings (£5) and I'm actually toying with the idea of getting new planetary tuners to replace the silly guitar tuners currently adorning it (£50). Of course if I do that, I'll need to fit ebony buttons because I'm not keen on the ivoroid white style that come as standard with most tuner sets (£20). With these simple upgrades alone I've almost doubled the cost of the banjo and could've bought a brand new one (almost). If I had, though, I'd still need to start upgrading....

Martin, did you hear about the chap who boasted about his broom that he'd used to sweep up his back yard for the last 70 years? It was still in tip-top condition. It'd only had 5 replacement heads and 2 new handles. Keith
