Hello everyone
I hope you're all keeping safe and well out there
I've spent a lovely couple of days with this OMC by Jamie Swannell out in Ely. Give it a listen!
All the best

That’s a lovely sounding instrument. You could probably make any guitar sound nice though. How do I get luthiers to lend me lovely guitars? (0:

Lovely work, as always, Michael.
Interesting to hear a bog oak-bodied guitar, too.

It’s not that tricky actually, you just have to play for a minimum of 35 years, spend a decade at the bleeding edge of the luthier built guitar world, demonstrate the work of the finest luthiers at festivals all over the planet, make a meaningful contribution to guitar journalism and then set up a YouTube channel. Not that much to it really...

Lovely work, as always, Michael. Interesting to hear a bog oak-bodied guitar, too. Thank you very much! It’s a very interesting instrument regardless of wood choice but it was definitely a good opportunity to compare it to other Oak guitars I’ve played over the years

Jamie was a student with Adrian Lucas at Newark. I’m pretty sure I played a couple of his guitars at a show in Birmingham a few years ago. It was clear the. He was one to watch!

Stunning guitar. I love it's beautifully crafted, understated look. Your demo was masterful, as always. Do you use nails or flesh mostly, when playing fingerstyle?
many thanks.

Hello everyone I hope you're all keeping safe and well out there I've spent a lovely couple of days with this OMC by Jamie Swannell out in Ely. Give it a listen! All the best Michael Very nice playing there Michael & a lovely sounding guitar as well Jamie. The reason this thread piqued my interest was that I'm currently building a Bog Oak OM myself, which I'll be exhibiting at the Ullapool Guitar Festival in October this year. (Build thread here for those interested: Bog Oak OM) I've not used this particular wood before, but it has some very promising tap tones & feelings in the hand as I work with it. I'm very excited to hear its voice.
Cheers, Oska.

Lovely guitar and most impressive cutaway! It gives you amazing access to the fingerboard. I've lived in Ely for 20+ years and had no idea Jamie was in town!!! Lovely to have another luthier here in the Fens.

The vid refers to structured sides what is meant by this How I think about it: the sides are made from three pieces, laminated together. The outer parts are normal or thin tone woods. The middle part of this sandwich made lightweight by kerfing, etc. I have heard talk of people using polymer composite in the middle. This laminate structure gives a bonding area to the top and back, without adding things like tentellones. The sides are stiff and structurally sound, letting the soundboard be less structural and give more vibration.
