I'm looking at getting a multi effects box. Mainly for experimenting with sounds and practicing, not for gigs.
I'm torn between something like the Zoom G1xNext or the Korg Pandora mini.
Ideally I'd like something that can also record passages so that I can play more stuff over them as well.
Are the palm-sized boxes only for listening through headphones or can you plug them into a practice amp as well?
Any tips or advice?

Well I wouldn't have been able to add much anyway, Jon, but one of my electric guitar wielding friends seems to always plump for Zoom multi-effects units, so it seems a good choice. I quite like Thomann as well - good prices and quick delivery

Good luck with your new device. It may be able to doi a million and one things but my advoce is keep it simple and enjoy your playing.

These boxes have become very versatile indeed. That Zoom will keep you busy for a long time. The Blues clip on the link is impressive too. My Boss ME-25 incorporates a volume/wah pedal, and makes some fine sounds, but using it can be fiddly. Plus, the rotary speaker sound is no good. For that, you need a dedicated pedal, or rotary speakers. The looping function is a gas though. Bought second-hand in pristine condition for £40, it's a winner.
