The other night I was enjoying a beer and listening to some music and was browsing guitars thinking I'd like a nice-but not too nice (i.e. expensive) guitar that I'd be happy to leave around on a guitar stand. We're a six dog household so the damaged but scared and repaired guitar is on the stand whilst the nice one lives in a case and doesn't get out to play as often as it should. Tried searching for Northworthy, as I seem to remember they were rather well regarded and not too expensive* but I could hardly find a trace of them online. Upon further reflection, it dawned on me that my impression of them not being too expensive was probably due to having considered them when I bought my Taylor, errr, that would have been in 2002 then - I wonder if they've increased the prices since! Mind you, the fun police are reluctant to approve any applications at the minute though this one was approved back in the autumn. T386, chose the least bling model so as to avoid "must keep it in the case" syndrome.

Alan Marshall — Northworthy — retired a few years ago. He was retired last time I saw him.
He did have somebody working with him with the hope that he would take on board the repairs business and maybe make guitars — at least it was something like that. But Alan has retired.

You've piqued my curiosity - which model/shape is it and what's it made of?
A while back I tried a D18 that I really liked compared to D28 and a J45, I'm kind of fancying a D18 , or maybe an Eastman for half the price! I only looked up Northworthy based on a fading memory of what I thought the prices were...

I have an Eastman E20D; it’s a lovely thing. Adi/RW, Ebony board, impeccably put together. A bit heavier than a Martin, but sounds wonderful, and less than half the price.
